Then KingZedekiahsentand had Jeremiahthe prophetbroughtto him at the thirdentrancethat is in the houseof the LORD;and the kingsaidto Jeremiah,"I am going to askyou something;do not hideanythingfrom me."
Then the kingansweredand saidto the woman,"Pleasedo not hideanythingfrom me that I am about to askyou." And the womansaid,"Let my lordthe kingpleasespeak."
the foodof his table,the seatingof his servants,the attendanceof his waitersand their attire,his cupbearers,and his stairwayby whichhe wentup to the houseof the LORD,there was nomorespiritin her.
Then the kingsaidto him, "Howmanytimesmust I adjureyou to speakto me nothingbut the truthin the nameof the LORD?"
The coveredwayfor the sabbathwhichthey had builtin the house,and the outerentryof the king,he removedfrom the houseof the LORDbecauseof the kingof Assyria.
The LORDsaid,"SurelyI will setyou freefor [purposes of] good;SurelyI will cause the enemyto makesupplicationto you In a timeof disasterand a timeof distress.
Now KingZedekiahsentand tookhim [out]; and in his palacethe kingsecretlyaskedhim and said,"Is therea wordfrom the LORD?"And Jeremiahsaid,"Thereis!" Then he said,"You will be giveninto the handof the kingof Babylon!"
For you have [only] deceivedyourselves;for it is you who sentme to the LORDyour God,saying,"Prayfor us to the LORDour God;and whateverthe LORDour Godsays,tellus so,and we will doit."
