Then JeremiahcalledBaruchthe sonof Neriah,and Baruchwroteon a scrollat the dictationof Jeremiahallthe wordsof the LORDwhichHe had spokento him.
Nowgo,writeit on a tabletbeforethem And inscribeit on a scroll,That it may servein the timeto comeAs a witness forever.
Then the LORDsaidto me, "Takefor yourself a largetabletand writeon it in ordinaryletters:Swiftis the booty,speedyis the prey.
I will bringupon that landallMy wordswhichI have pronouncedagainstit, allthat is writtenin thisbookwhichJeremiahhas prophesiedagainstallthe nations.
"Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof Israel,Writeallthe wordswhichI have spokento you in a book.
and I gavethe deedof purchaseto Baruchthe sonof Neriah,the sonof Mahseiah,in the sightof Hanamelmy uncle's[son] and in the sightof the witnesseswho signedthe deedof purchase,beforeallthe Jewswho were sittingin the courtof the guard.
Then allthe officialssentJehudithe sonof Nethaniah,the sonof Shelemiah,the sonof Cushi,to Baruch,saying,"Takein your handthe scrollfrom whichyou have readto the peopleand come."So Baruchthe sonof Neriahtookthe scrollin his handand wentto them.
Then the kingsentJehudito getthe scroll,and he tookit out of the chamberof Elishamathe scribe.And Jehudireadit to the kingas well as to allthe officialswho stoodbesidethe king.
When Jehudihad readthreeor fourcolumns,[the king] cutit with a scribe'sknifeand threw[it] into the firethat was in the brazier,untilallthe scrollwas consumedin the firethat was in the brazier.
And the kingcommandedJerahmeelthe king'sson,Seraiahthe sonof Azriel,and Shelemiahthe sonof Abdeelto seizeBaruchthe scribeand Jeremiahthe prophet,but the LORDhidthem.
Then the wordof the LORDcameto Jeremiahafterthe kinghad burnedthe scrolland the wordswhichBaruchhad writtenat the dictationof Jeremiah,saying,
"Takeagainanotherscrolland writeon it allthe formerwordsthat were on the firstscrollwhichJehoiakimthe kingof Judahburned.
Then Jeremiahtookanotherscrolland gaveit to Baruchthe sonof Neriah,the scribe,and he wroteon it at the dictationof Jeremiahallthe wordsof the bookwhichJehoiakimkingof Judahhad burnedin the fire;and manysimilar wordswere addedto them.
"So you goand readfrom the scrollwhichyou have writtenat my dictationthe wordsof the LORDto the peoplein the LORD'Shouseon a fastday.And alsoyou shall readthem to all[the people of] Judahwho comefrom their cities.
but Baruchthe sonof Neriahis incitingyou against us to giveus over into the handof the Chaldeans,so they will putus to deathor exileus to Babylon."
The messagewhichJeremiahthe prophetcommandedSeraiahthe sonof Neriah,the grandsonof Mahseiah,when he wentwith Zedekiahthe kingof Judahto Babylonin the fourthyearof his reign.(Now Seraiahwas quartermaster.)
So Jeremiahwrotein a singlescrollallthe calamitywhichwould comeupon Babylon,[that is], allthesewordswhich have been writtenconcerningBabylon.
Then I looked,and behold,a handwas extendedto me; and lo,a scroll[was] in it.
In the firstyearof Belshazzarkingof BabylonDanielsawa dreamand visionsin his mind[as he lay] on his bed;thenhe wrotethe dreamdown[and] relatedthe [following] summaryof it.
Then I liftedup my eyesagainand looked,and behold,[there was] a flyingscroll.
I, Tertius,who writethisletter,greetyou in the Lord.
