"Takemy instructionand not silver,And knowledgeratherthanchoicestgold.
Whoamong you will giveearto this?Who will giveheedand listenhereafter?
whichJeremiahthe prophetspoketo allthe peopleof Judahand to allthe inhabitantsof Jerusalem,saying,
"They have turned[their] backto Me and not [their] face;though [I] taughtthem, teachingagainand again,they would not listenand receiveinstruction.
Then the wordof the LORDcameto Jeremiah,saying,
O LORD,do not Your eyes[look] for truth?You have smittenthem, [But] they did not weaken;You have consumedthem, But they refusedto takecorrection.They have madetheir facesharderthanrock;They have refusedto repent.
Whois the wisemanthat may understandthis?And [who is] he to whomthe mouthof the LORDhas spoken,that he may declareit? Whyis the landruined,laidwastelike a desert,sothat noonepassesthrough?
Seeto it that you do not refuseHim who is speaking.For ifthosedid not escapewhen they refusedhim who warned[them] on earth,muchless[will] we [escape] who turn awayfrom Him who [warns] from heaven.
