The wordwhichcameto Jeremiahfrom the LORDwhen KingZedekiahsentto him Pashhurthe sonof Malchijah,and Zephaniahthe priest,the sonof Maaseiah,saying,
"Go,inquireof the LORDfor me and the peopleand allJudahconcerningthe wordsof thisbookthat has been found,for greatis the wrathof the LORDthat burnsagainst us, becauseour fathershave not listenedto the wordsof thisbook,to doaccording to allthat is writtenconcerningus."
The sonsof Josiah[were] Johananthe firstborn,and the second[was] Jehoiakim,the thirdZedekiah,the fourthShallum.
and Adaiahthe sonof Jeroham,the sonof Pashhur,the sonof Malchijah,and Maasaithe sonof Adiel,the sonof Jahzerah,the sonof Meshullam,the sonof Meshillemith,the sonof Immer;
Therefore He broughtup againstthem the kingof the Chaldeanswho slewtheir youngmenwith the swordin the houseof their sanctuary,and hadnocompassionon youngmanor virgin,oldmanor infirm;He gave[them] allinto his hand.
and their kinsmenwho performedthe workof the temple,822;and Adaiahthe sonof Jeroham,the sonof Pelaliah,the sonof Amzi,the sonof Zechariah,the sonof Pashhur,the sonof Malchijah,
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,'Becauseyou have sentlettersin your own nameto allthe peoplewhoare in Jerusalem,and to Zephaniahthe sonof Maaseiah,the priest,and to allthe priests,saying,
Zephaniahthe priestreadthisletterto Jeremiahthe prophet.
and I broughtthem into the houseof the LORD,into the chamberof the sonsof Hananthe sonof Igdaliah,the manof God,whichwas nearthe chamberof the officials,whichwas abovethe chamberof Maaseiahthe sonof Shallum,the doorkeeper.
Now Zedekiahthe sonof JosiahwhomNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad madekingin the landof Judah,reignedas kingin placeof Coniahthe sonof Jehoiakim.
Now KingZedekiahsentand tookhim [out]; and in his palacethe kingsecretlyaskedhim and said,"Is therea wordfrom the LORD?"And Jeremiahsaid,"Thereis!" Then he said,"You will be giveninto the handof the kingof Babylon!"
Yet KingZedekiahsentJehucalthe sonof Shelemiah,and Zephaniahthe sonof Maaseiah,the priest,to Jeremiahthe prophet,saying,"Pleaseprayto the LORDour Godon our behalf."
"Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,Thusyou are to sayto the kingof Judah,who sentyou to Me to inquireof Me: "Behold,Pharaoh'sarmywhich has comeout for your assistanceis going to returnto its own landof Egypt.
Now Shephatiahthe sonof Mattan,and Gedaliahthe sonof Pashhur,and Jucalthe sonof Shelemiah,and Pashhurthe sonof Malchijahheardthe wordsthat Jeremiahwas speakingto allthe people,saying,
Then KingZedekiahsentand had Jeremiahthe prophetbroughtto him at the thirdentrancethat is in the houseof the LORD;and the kingsaidto Jeremiah,"I am going to askyou something;do not hideanythingfrom me."
Then the captainof the guardtookSeraiahthe chiefpriestand Zephaniahthe secondpriest,with the threeofficersof the temple.
