Thereforethussaysthe LORDconcerningthe menof Anathoth,who seekyour life,saying,"Do not prophesyin the nameof the LORD,sothat you will not dieat our hand";
Whosayto the seers,"You must not see[visions"]; And to the prophets,"You must not prophesyto us whatis right,Speakto us pleasantwords,Prophesyillusions.
The wordsof Jeremiahthe sonof Hilkiah,of the priestswhowere in Anathothin the landof Benjamin,
"They will fightagainstyou, but they will not overcomeyou, for I am with you to deliveryou," declaresthe LORD.
For I have heardthe whisperingof many,"Terroron everyside!Denounce[him]; yes, let us denouncehim!" Allmy trustedfriends,Watchingfor my fall,say: "Perhapshe will be deceived,so that we may prevailagainst him And takeour revengeon him."
When Jeremiahfinishedspeakingallthat the LORDhad commanded[him] to speakto allthe people,the priestsand the prophetsand allthe peopleseizedhim, saying,"You mustdie!
Behold,Hanamelthe sonof Shallumyour uncleis comingto you, saying,"Buyfor yourself my fieldwhichis at Anathoth,for you have the rightof redemptionto buy[it]."'
I will givethem into the handof their enemiesand into the handof those who seektheir life.And their deadbodieswill be foodfor the birdsof the skyand the beastsof the earth.
"But you made the Naziritesdrinkwine,And you commandedthe prophetssaying,You shall not prophesy!'
For sontreatsfathercontemptuously,Daughterrisesup against her mother,Daughter-in-lawagainst her mother-in-law;A man'senemiesare the menof his own household.
"Brotherwill betraybrotherto death,and a father[his] child;and childrenwill riseup againstparentsand cause them to be put to death.
"The vine-growerstookhis slavesand beatone,and killedanother,and stoneda third.
and the restseizedhis slavesand mistreatedthem and killedthem.
And He said,"TrulyI sayto you, noprophetis welcomein his hometown.
