"Then the citiesof Judahand the inhabitantsof Jerusalemwill goand cryto the godsto whomthey burnincense,but they surelywill not savethem in the timeof their disaster.
Now in the timeof his distressthissameKingAhazbecameyetmoreunfaithfulto the LORD.
"Gatheryourselves and come;Drawneartogether,you fugitivesof the nations;They havenoknowledge,Who carryabout their woodenidolAnd prayto a godwho cannotsave.
"They liftit upon the shoulder[and] carryit; They setit in its placeand it stands[there]. It does not movefrom its place.Thoughone may cryto it, it cannotanswer;It cannotdeliverhim from his distress.
For My peoplehave forgottenMe, They burnincenseto worthlessgods And they have stumbledfrom their ways,From the ancientpaths,To walkin bypaths,Not on a highway,
"But whereare your godsWhichyou madefor yourself? Let them arise,ifthey can saveyou In the timeof your trouble;For [according to] the numberof your citiesAre your gods,O Judah.
provokingMe to angerwith the worksof your hands,burningsacrificesto othergodsin the landof Egypt,whereyou are enteringto reside,sothat you might be cutoffand becomea curseand a reproachamong allthe nationsof the earth?
"And He will say,Whereare their gods,The rockin which they soughtrefuge?
Whoatethe fatof their sacrifices,[And] drankthe wineof their drinkoffering?Let them riseup and helpyou, Let them be your hidingplace!
"Goand cryout to the godswhichyou have chosen;let them deliveryou in the timeof your distress."
