Your holypeoplepossessedYour sanctuaryfor a littlewhile,Our adversarieshave trodden[it] down.
Oh,that You would rendthe heavens[and] comedown,That the mountainsmight quakeat Your presence--

Pourout Your wrathon the nationsthat do not knowYou And on the familiesthat do not callYour name;For they have devouredJacob;They have devouredhim and consumedhim And have laidwastehis habitation.
"Whyare You like a mandismayed,Like a mightymanwho cannotsave?Yet You are in our midst,O LORD,And we are calledby Your name;Do not forsakeus!"
"O my God,inclineYour earand hear!OpenYour eyesand seeour desolationsand the citywhichis calledby Your name;for we are not presentingour supplicationsbeforeYou on accountof any meritsof our own, but on accountof Your greatcompassion.
"O Lord,hear!O Lord,forgive!O Lord,listenand takeaction!For Your own sake,O my God,do not delay,becauseYour cityand Your peopleare calledby Your name."
That they may possessthe remnantof EdomAnd allthe nationswhoare calledby My name,"Declaresthe LORDwho doesthis.
"In the generationsgoneby He permittedallthe nationsto gotheir own ways;
SOTHAT THE RESTOF MANKINDMAY SEEKTHE LORD,AND ALLTHE GENTILESWHOARE CALLEDBY MY NAME,'
whoare Israelites,to whombelongs the adoption as sons,and the gloryand the covenantsand the giving of the Lawand the [temple] serviceand the promises,
[remember] that you were at that timeseparatefrom Christ,excludedfrom the commonwealthof Israel,and strangersto the covenantsof promise,havingnohopeand without Godin the world.
"So allthe peoplesof the earthwill seethat you are calledby the nameof the LORD,and they will be afraidof you.
"LORD,when You wentout from Seir,When You marchedfrom the fieldof Edom,The earthquaked,the heavensalsodripped,Eventhe cloudsdrippedwater.
"The mountainsquakedat the presenceof the LORD,ThisSinai,at the presenceof the LORD,the Godof Israel.
