My heartcriesout for Moab; His fugitivesare as faras Zoar[and] Eglath-shelishiyah,For they goup the ascentof Luhithweeping;Surelyon the roadto Horonaimthey raisea cryof distressover [their] ruin.
Lotliftedup his eyesand sawallthe valleyof the Jordan, that it was wellwateredeverywhere--[this was] beforethe LORDdestroyedSodomand Gomorrah--like the gardenof the LORD,like the landof Egyptas you goto Zoar.
[that] they madewarwith Berakingof Sodom, and with Birshakingof Gomorrah,Shinabkingof Admah, and Shemeberkingof Zeboiim, and the kingof Bela(that is, Zoar).
"Hurry, escapethere, for I cannotdoanythinguntilyou arrivethere."Thereforethe nameof the townwas calledZoar.
While allthe countrywas weepingwith a loudvoice, allthe peoplepassedover. The kingalso passedoverthe brookKidron, and allthe peoplepassedovertowardthe wayof the wilderness.
And Davidwentup the ascentof the [Mount of] Olives, and weptas he went, and his headwas coveredand he walkedbarefoot. Then allthe peoplewhowere with him eachcoveredhis headand wentup weepingas they went.
But nowthe LORDspeaks, saying,"Within threeyears,as a hiredmanwould countthem, the gloryof Moabwill be degradedalong with all[his] greatpopulation, and [his] remnantwill be verysmall[and] impotent."
For the LordGODof hostshas a dayof panic, subjugationand confusionIn the valleyof vision,A breakingdownof wallsAnd a cryingto the mountain.
Their feetrunto evil,And they hastento shedinnocentblood;Their thoughtsare thoughtsof iniquity,Devastationand destructionare in their highways.
But ifyou will not listento it, My soulwill sobin secretfor [such] pride; And my eyeswill bitterlyweepAnd flowdownwith tears,Becausethe flockof the LORDhas been takencaptive.
But as for me, I have not hurriedaway from [being] a shepherdafterYou, Norhave I longedfor the woefulday; You Yourselfknowthat the utteranceof my lipsWas in Your presence.
My soul,my soul!I am in anguish!Oh,my heart!My heartis poundingin me; I cannotbe silent,Becauseyou have heard,O my soul,The soundof the trumpet,The alarmof war.
Disasteron disasteris proclaimed,For the wholelandis devastated;Suddenlymy tentsare devastated,My curtainsin an instant.
"The soundof an outcryfrom Horonaim,'Devastationand greatdestruction!'
"For by the ascentof LuhithThey will ascendwith continualweeping; For at the descentof HoronaimThey have heardthe anguishedcryof destruction.
At the shout,"Babylonhas been seized!"the earthis shaken, and an outcryis heardamong the nations.
"For the mountainsI will takeup a weepingand wailing,And for the pasturesof the wildernessa dirge,Becausethey are laidwastesothat noonepassesthrough,And the lowingof the cattleis not heard;Boththe birdsof the skyand the beastshave fled;they are gone.
"Woeto you, O Moab!You are ruined,O peopleof Chemosh!He has givenhis sonsas fugitives,And his daughtersinto captivity,To an Amoriteking,Sihon.
