"Those who seeyou will gazeat you, They will ponderoveryou, [saying], 'Is thisthe manwho made the earthtremble,Who shookkingdoms,
"Behold,the manwho would not makeGodhis refuge,But trustedin the abundanceof his riches[And] was strongin his [evil] desire."
Then allmenwill fear,And they will declarethe workof God,And will considerwhatHe has done.
"Neverthelessyou will be thrustdownto Sheol,To the recessesof the pit.
Who madethe worldlike a wildernessAnd overthrewits cities,Who did not allowhis prisonersto [go] home?'
"Howthe hammerof the wholeearthHas been cutoffand broken!HowBabylonhas becomeAn objectof horroramong the nations!
whosegravesare setin the remotestpartsof the pitand her companyis roundabouther grave.Allof them are slain,fallenby the sword,whospreadterrorin the landof the living.
"Nordo they liebesidethe fallenheroesof the uncircumcised,whowentdownto Sheolwith their weaponsof warand whose swordswere laidundertheir heads;but the punishmentfor their iniquityrestedon their bones,thoughthe terrorof [these] heroes[was once] in the landof the living.
"I will throwfilthon you And makeyou vile,And setyou up as a spectacle.
"They mockat kingsAnd rulersare a laughingmatter to them. They laughat everyfortressAnd heapup rubbleto captureit.
Will they thereforeemptytheir netAnd continuallyslaynationswithoutsparing?
