The daughterof Zionis leftlike a shelterin a vineyard,Like a watchman'shutin a cucumberfield,like a besiegedcity.
Thereforethussaysthe LordGODof hosts,"O My peoplewho dwellin Zion,do not fearthe Assyrianwho strikesyou with the rodand liftsup his staffagainstyou, the wayEgypt[did].
Madmenahhas fled.The inhabitantsof Gebimhave soughtrefuge.
And the LORDwill utterlydestroyThe tongueof the Seaof Egypt;And He will waveHis handoverthe RiverWith His scorchingwind;And He will strikeit into sevenstreamsAnd make [men] walkover dry-shod.
Liftup a standardon the barehill,Raiseyour voiceto them, Wavethe handthat they may enterthe doorsof the nobles.
Sendthe [tribute] lambto the rulerof the land,From Selaby way of the wildernessto the mountainof the daughterof Zion.
In that daythe Egyptianswill becomelike women,and they will trembleand be in dreadbecauseof the wavingof the handof the LORDof hosts,whichHe is going to waveoverthem.
Now it will comeabout that In the lastdaysThe mountainof the houseof the LORDWill be establishedas the chiefof the mountains,And will be raisedabovethe hills;And allthe nationswill streamto it.
I will bringdistressto Ariel,And she will be [a city of] lamentingand mourning;And she will be like an Arielto me.
thisis the wordthat the LORDhas spokenagainsthim: "She has despisedyou and mockedyou, The virgindaughterof Zion;She has shaken[her] headbehindyou, The daughterof Jerusalem!
"Then it will sweepon into Judah,it will overflowand passthrough,It will reachevento the neck;And the spreadof its wingswill fillthe breadthof your land,O Immanuel.
"They seizebowand spear;They are crueland havenomercy;Their voiceroarslike the sea,And they rideon horses,Arrayedas a manfor the battleAgainstyou, O daughterof Zion!"
For her woundis incurable,For it has cometo Judah;It has reachedthe gateof my people,[Even] to Jerusalem.
"For behold,I will waveMy handoverthem so that they will be plunderfor their slaves.Then you will knowthat the LORDof hostshas sentMe.
Then Davidcameto Nobto Ahimelechthe priest;and Ahimelechcametremblingto meetDavidand saidto him, "Whyare you aloneand noonewith you?"
