The LORDof hostswill arousea scourgeagainsthim like the slaughterof Midianat the rockof Oreb;and His staffwill be overthe seaand He will liftit up the way[He did] in Egypt.
Then it happenedthat nightthat the angelof the LORDwentout and struck185000in the campof the Assyrians;and when men roseearlyin the morning, behold, allof them were dead.
Stirup Yourself, and awaketo my rightAnd to my cause,my Godand my Lord.
Maketheir nobleslike Oreband ZeebAnd alltheir princeslike Zebahand Zalmunna,
"As for you, liftup your staffand stretchout your handoverthe seaand divideit, and the sonsof Israelshall gothroughthe midstof the seaon dryland.
Thereforethussaysthe LordGODof hosts,"O My peoplewho dwellin Zion,do not fearthe Assyrianwho strikesyou with the rodand liftsup his staffagainstyou, the wayEgypt[did].
And there will be a highwayfrom AssyriaFor the remnantof His peoplewhowill be left,Justas there was for IsraelIn the daythat they cameup out of the landof Egypt.
And the LORDwill cause His voiceof authorityto be heard,And the descendingof His armto be seenin fierceanger,And [in] the flameof a consumingfireIn cloudburst, downpourand hailstones.
For at the voiceof the LORDAssyriawill be terrified,[When] He strikeswith the rod.
And everyblowof the rodof punishment,Whichthe LORDwill layon him, Will be with [the music of] tambourinesand lyres; And in battles, brandishingweapons,He will fightthem.
You shall multiplythe nation,You shall increasetheir gladness; They will be gladin Your presenceAs with the gladnessof harvest,As men rejoicewhen they dividethe spoil.
For You shall breakthe yokeof their burdenand the staffon their shoulders,The rodof their oppressor,as at the battleof Midian.
"And the nationswere enraged, and Your wrathcame, and the time[came] for the deadto be judged, and [the time] to rewardYour bond-servantsthe prophetsand the saintsand thosewho fearYour name, the smalland the great, and to destroythosewho destroythe earth."
From His mouthcomesa sharpsword, sothat with it He may strike downthe nations, and He will rulethem with a rodof iron;and He treadsthe winepressof the fiercewrathof God,the Almighty.
They capturedthe twoleadersof Midian,Oreband Zeeb, and they killedOrebat the rockof Oreb, and they killedZeebat the winepressof Zeeb, while they pursuedMidian;and they broughtthe headsof Oreband Zeebto Gideonfrom acrossthe Jordan.
