The messengersreturnedto Jacob,saying,"We cameto your brotherEsau,and furthermorehe is comingto meetyou, and fourhundredmenare with him."
and he droveawayallhis livestockand allhis propertywhichhe had gathered,his acquiredlivestockwhichhe had gatheredin Paddan-aram,to goto the landof Canaanto his fatherIsaac.
"Deliverme, I pray,from the handof my brother,from the handof Esau;for I fearhim, that he will comeand attackme [and] the motherswith the children.
Then Jacobwas greatlyafraidand distressed;and he dividedthe peoplewhowere with him, and the flocksand the herdsand the camels,into twocompanies;
for he said,"IfEsaucomesto the onecompanyand attacksit, then the companywhich is leftwill escape."
Then Jacobliftedhis eyesand looked,and behold,Esauwas coming,and fourhundredmenwith him. So he dividedthe childrenamongLeahand Racheland the twomaids.
Esausaid,"Pleaselet me leavewith you someof the peoplewhoare with me." But he said,"Whatneed is there? Let me findfavorin the sightof my lord."
And he said,"Whatdo you mean by allthiscompanywhichI have met?"And he said,"To findfavorin the sightof my lord."
Shechemalso saidto her fatherand to her brothers,"If I findfavorin your sight,then I will givewhateveryou sayto me.
So they said,"You have savedour lives!Let us findfavorin the sightof my lord,and we will be Pharaoh'sslaves."
As whena manfleesfrom a lionAnd a bearmeetshim, Or goeshome,leanshis handagainstthe wallAnd a snakebiteshim.
Then she said,"I have foundfavorin your sight,my lord,for you have comfortedme and indeedhave spokenkindlyto your maidservant,though I amnot like oneof your maidservants."
And Ruththe Moabitesssaidto Naomi,"Pleaselet me goto the fieldand gleanamong the earsof grainafterone in whosesightI may findfavor."And she saidto her, "Go,my daughter."
She said,"Let your maidservantfindfavorin your sight."So the womanwenther wayand ate,and her facewas nolonger[sad].
