Abrahamsaidto his servant,the oldestof his household,who hadchargeof allthat he owned, "Pleaseplaceyour handundermy thigh,
Abramsaid,"O LordGOD,whatwill You giveme, since I amchildless,and the heirof my houseis Eliezerof Damascus?"
So he said,"I am Abraham'sservant.
"My mastermade me swear,saying,'You shall not takea wifefor my sonfrom the daughtersof the Canaanites,in whoselandI live;
Then he commandedhis housesteward,saying,"Fillthe men'ssackswith food,as muchas they cancarry,and puteachman'smoneyin the mouthof his sack.
When the timefor Israelto diedrewnear,he calledhis sonJosephand saidto him, "Please,ifI have foundfavorin your sight,placenowyour handundermy thighand dealwith me in kindnessand faithfulness.Pleasedo not buryme in Egypt,
He said,"Swearto me." So he sworeto him. Then Israelbowed[in worship] at the headof the bed.
The eldersof his householdstoodbesidehim in order to raisehim up from the ground,but he was unwillingand would not eatfoodwith them.
His servantZimri,commanderof halfhis chariots,conspiredagainsthim. Now he [was] at Tirzahdrinkinghimself drunkin the houseof Arza,who[was] overthe householdat Tirzah.
Allthe officials,the mightymen,and alsoallthe sonsof KingDavidpledgedallegianceto KingSolomon.
The elderswho rulewellare to be considered worthyof doublehonor,especiallythosewho work hardat preachingand teaching.
The servantin chargeof the reapersreplied,"She is the youngMoabitewomanwho returnedwith Naomifrom the landof Moab.
