It cameabout when the sunhad set,that it was verydark,and behold,[there appeared] a smokingovenand a flamingtorchwhichpassedbetweenthesepieces.
Then he broughtalltheseto Him and cutthem in two,and laideachhalfoppositethe other;but he did not cutthe birds.
"Smokewentup out of His nostrils,Firefrom His mouthdevoured;Coalswere kindledby it.
Then the fireof the LORDfelland consumedthe burntofferingand the woodand the stonesand the dust,and lickedup the waterthat was in the trench.
Then Davidbuiltan altarto the LORDthereand offeredburntofferingsand peaceofferings.And he calledto the LORDand He answeredhim with firefrom heavenon the altarof burntoffering.
Now MountSinai[was] allin smokebecausethe LORDdescendedupon it in fire;and its smokeascendedlike the smokeof a furnace,and the wholemountainquakedviolently.
Allthe peopleperceivedthe thunderand the lightningflashesand the soundof the trumpetand the mountainsmoking;and when the peoplesaw[it], they trembledand stoodat a distance.
For Zion'ssakeI will not keepsilent,And for Jerusalem'ssakeI will not keepquiet,Untilher righteousnessgoesforthlike brightness,And her salvationlike a torchthat is burning.
whichI commandedyour forefathersin the daythat I broughtthem out of the landof Egypt,from the ironfurnace,saying,Listento My voice,and doaccording to allwhichI commandyou; so you shall be My people,and I will be your God,'

For it cameabout when the flamewentup from the altartoward heaven,that the angelof the LORDascendedin the flameof the altar.When Manoahand his wifesaw[this], they fellon their facesto the ground.
Then the angelof the LORDputout the endof the staffthat was in his handand touchedthe meatand the unleavenedbread;and firesprangup from the rockand consumedthe meatand the unleavenedbread.Then the angelof the LORDvanishedfrom his sight.
