[God] saidto Abram,"Knowfor certainthat your descendantswill be strangersin a landthat is not theirs,where they will be enslavedand oppressedfourhundredyears.
Then Israelsaidto Joseph,"Behold,I am about to die,but Godwill be with you, and bringyou backto the landof your fathers.

"BecauseManassehkingof Judahhas donetheseabominations,having donewickedlymorethanallthe Amoritesdidwho[were] beforehim, and has alsomade Judahsinwith his idols;
And He broughtforthHis peoplewith joy,His chosenoneswith a joyfulshout.

Mosessaidto the people,"Rememberthisdayin whichyou wentout from Egypt,from the houseof slavery;for by a powerfulhandthe LORDbroughtyou out from thisplace. And nothingleavenedshall be eaten.

"In the latterperiodof their rule,When the transgressorshave run[their course], A kingwill arise,Insolentand skilledin intrigue.
Do not defileyourselves by anyof thesethings;for by allthesethe nationswhichI am castingout beforeyou have becomedefiled.
"Do not sayin your heartwhen the LORDyour Godhas driventhem out beforeyou, 'Because of my righteousnessthe LORDhas broughtme in to possessthisland,'but [it is] because of the wickednessof thesenations[that] the LORDis dispossessingthem beforeyou.
"It is not for your righteousnessor for the uprightnessof your heartthat you are goingto possesstheir land,but [it is] becauseof the wickednessof thesenations[that] the LORDyour Godis drivingthem out beforeyou, in orderto confirmthe oathwhichthe LORDsworeto your fathers,to Abraham,Isaacand Jacob.
