Then Godsaid,"Let the earthsproutvegetation:plantsyieldingseed,[and] fruittreeson the earthbearingfruitafter their kindwith seedin them"; and it was so.
The earthbroughtforthvegetation,plantsyieldingseedafter their kind,and treesbearingfruitwith seedin them, after their kind;and Godsawthat it was good.
Then Godsaid,"Behold,I have givenyou everyplantyieldingseedthat is on the surfaceof allthe earth,and everytreewhichhas fruityieldingseed;it shall be foodfor you;
The LORDGodcommandedthe man,saying,"From anytreeof the gardenyou may eatfreely;
Now noshrubof the fieldwas yetin the earth,and noplantof the fieldhad yetsprouted,for the LORDGodhad not sentrainupon the earth,and there was nomanto cultivatethe ground.
Out of the groundthe LORDGodcaused to groweverytreethat is pleasingto the sightand goodfor food;the treeof lifealso in the midstof the garden,and the treeof the knowledgeof goodand evil.
"The earth,from it comesfood,And underneathit is turnedup as fire.
He will be like a tree[firmly] plantedby streamsof water,Whichyieldsits fruitin its seasonAnd its leafdoes not wither;And in whateverhe does,he prospers.
Who coversthe heavenswith clouds,Who providesrainfor the earth,Who makes grassto growon the mountains.
For as the earthbringsforthits sprouts,And as a gardencauses the thingssownin it to springup, Sothe LordGODwill cause righteousnessand praiseTo springup beforeallthe nations.
"For he will be like a treeplantedby the water,That extendsits rootsby a streamAnd will not fearwhenthe heatcomes;But its leaveswill be green,And it will not be anxiousin a yearof droughtNorceaseto yieldfruit.
"The axeis alreadylaidat the rootof the trees;thereforeeverytreethat does not beargoodfruitis cut downand throwninto the fire.
"But ifGodsoclothesthe grassof the field,which is [alive] todayand tomorrowis throwninto the furnace,[will He] not muchmore[clothe] you? You of little faith!
"The soilproduces cropsby itself;firstthe blade,thenthe head,thenthe maturegrainin the head.
But Godgivesit a bodyjustas He wished,and to eachof the seedsa bodyof its own.
For groundthat drinksthe rainwhich oftenfallson it and brings forthvegetationusefulto thosefor whosesakeit is alsotilled,receivesa blessingfrom God;
Cana fig tree,my brethren,produceolives,ora vineproducefigs?Nor[can] saltwaterproducefresh.
