However,the Lawis not of faith;on the contrary,"HE WHO PRACTICESTHEM SHALL LIVEBY THEM."
And admonishedthem in order to turnthem backto Your law.Yet they actedarrogantlyand did not listento Your commandmentsbut sinnedagainst Your ordinances,By whichif a manobservesthem he shall live.And they turneda stubbornshoulderand stiffenedtheir neck,and would not listen.
"I gavethem My statutesand informedthem of My ordinances,by which,if a manobservesthem, he will live.
"But the houseof Israelrebelledagainst Me in the wilderness.They did not walkin My statutesand they rejectedMy ordinances,by which,if a manobservesthem, he will live;and My sabbathsthey greatlyprofaned.Then I resolvedto pourout My wrathon them in the wilderness,to annihilatethem.
So you shall keepMy statutesand My judgments,by whicha manmay liveif he doesthem; I am the LORD.
And He saidto him, "Whyare you askingMe aboutwhatis good?There is [only] Onewho is good;but ifyou wishto enterinto life,keepthe commandments."
But ifit is by grace,it is nolongeron the basisof works,otherwisegraceis no longergrace.
For ifthosewho are of the Laware heirs,faithis made voidand the promiseis nullified;
For thisreason[it is] by faith,in orderthat [it may be] in accordancewith grace,sothat the promisewill be guaranteedto allthe descendants,not onlyto thosewho are of the Law,but alsoto thosewho are of the faithof Abraham,whois the fatherof us all,
and thiscommandment,which was to resultin life,provedto resultin deathfor me;
