"I, even I, KingArtaxerxes,issuea decreeto allthe treasurerswhoare [in the provinces] beyondthe River,that whateverEzrathe priest,the scribeof the lawof the Godof heaven,may requireof you, it shall be donediligently,
"We informthe kingthat ifthat cityis rebuiltand the wallsfinished,as a resultyou will havenopossessionin [the province] beyondthe River."
that mightykingshave ruledoverJerusalem,governingall[the provinces] beyondthe River,and that tribute,customand tollwere paidto them.
"Now[therefore], Tattenai,governorof [the province] beyondthe River,Shethar-bozenaiand your colleagues,the officialsof [the provinces] beyondthe River,keepawayfrom there.
Now afterthesethings,in the reignof Artaxerxeskingof Persia,[there went up] Ezrasonof Seraiah,sonof Azariah,sonof Hilkiah,
[even] up to 100talentsof silver,100korsof wheat,100bathsof wine,100bathsof oil,and saltas needed.
ThisEzrawentup from Babylon,and he was a scribeskilledin the lawof Moses,whichthe LORDGodof Israelhad given;and the kinggrantedhim allhe requestedbecause the handof the LORDhis God[was] upon him.
Then they deliveredthe king'sedictsto the king'ssatrapsand to the governors[in the provinces] beyondthe River,and they supportedthe peopleand the houseof God.
And I saidto the king,"Ifit pleasethe king,let lettersbe givenme for the governors[of the provinces] beyondthe River,that they may allow me to passthroughuntilI cometo Judah,
You have ordainedYour precepts,That we should keep[them] diligently.
"I makea decreethat in allthe dominionof my kingdommen are to fearand tremblebeforethe Godof Daniel;For He is the livingGodand enduringforever,And His kingdomis one whichwill not be destroyed,And His dominion[will be] forever.
