[As for] allthe peoplewho were leftof the Amorites,the Hittites,the Perizzites,the Hivitesand the Jebusites,whowere not of the sonsof Israel,
their descendantswhowere leftafterthem in the landwhomthe sonsof Israelwere unableto destroyutterly,from them Solomonleviedforcedlaborers,evento thisday.
Now the firstwholivedin their possessionsin their cities[were] Israel,the priests,the Levitesand the templeservants.
the sonsof Shephatiah,the sonsof Hattil,the sonsof Pochereth-hazzebaim,the sonsof Ami.
Now theseare those who cameup from Tel-melah,Tel-harsha,Cherub,Addan[and] Immer,but they were not ableto giveevidenceof their fathers'householdsand their descendants,whetherthey were of Israel:

The templeservantslivingin Ophel[made repairs] as faras the frontof the WaterGatetoward the eastand the projectingtower.

I boughtmaleand femaleslavesand I hadhomebornslaves.AlsoI possessed flocksand herdslargerthanallwhoprecededme in Jerusalem.
The leaderssaidto them, "Let them live."So they becamehewersof woodand drawersof waterfor the wholecongregation,justas the leadershad spokento them.
"Nowtherefore, you are cursed,and you shall neverceasebeing slaves,both hewersof woodand drawersof waterfor the houseof my God."
