"For sevendaysyou shall makeatonementfor the altarand consecrateit; then the altarshall be mostholy,[and] whatevertouchesthe altarshall be holy.
On the eighthdaythey helda solemnassembly,for the dedicationof the altarthey observedsevendaysand the feastsevendays.
"You shall anointthe altarof burntofferingand allits utensils,and consecratethe altar,and the altarshall be mostholy.
You shall takesomeof its bloodand putit on its fourhornsand on the fourcornersof the ledgeand on the borderroundabout;thus you shall cleanseit and makeatonementfor it.
For sevendaysyou shall preparedailya goatfor a sinoffering;also a youngbulland a ramfrom the flock,withoutblemish,shall be prepared.
"Seventyweekshave been decreedfor your peopleand your holycity,to finishthe transgression,to makean endof sin,to makeatonementfor iniquity,to bringin everlastingrighteousness,to sealup visionand prophecyand to anointthe mostholy[place].
"He shall makeatonementfor the holyplace, becauseof the impuritiesof the sonsof Israeland becauseof their transgressionsin regard to alltheir sins;and thushe shall dofor the tentof meetingwhich abideswith them in the midstof their impurities.
Then he shall takeoffhis garmentsand puton othergarments,and carrythe ashesoutsidethe campto a cleanplace.
He sprinkledsomeof it on the altarseventimesand anointedthe altarand allits utensils,and the basinand its stand,to consecratethem.
Ifa mancarriesholymeatin the foldof his garment,and touchesbreadwith this fold,or cookedfood,wine,oil,or any[other] food,will it becomeholy?'"And the priestsanswered,"No."
"You foolsand blind men!Whichis more important,the goldorthe templethat sanctifiedthe gold?
"You blind men,whichis more important,the offering,orthe altarthat sanctifiesthe offering?
