"You shall setboundsfor the peopleallaround,saying,Bewarethat you do not goup on the mountainor touchthe borderof it; whoevertouchesthe mountainshall surelybe putto death.
Then Pharaohsaidto him, "Getawayfrom me! Beware,do not seemy faceagain,for in the dayyou seemy faceyou shall die!"
Then the LORDspoketo Moses,"Godown,warnthe people,sothat they do not breakthroughto the LORDto gaze,and manyof them perish.
Mosessaidto the LORD,"The peoplecannotcomeup to MountSinai,for You warnedus, saying,Setboundsabout the mountainand consecrateit.'"
"Mosesalone,however, shall comenearto the LORD,but they shall not comenear,norshall the peoplecomeup with him."
"Watchyourself that you makenocovenantwith the inhabitantsof the landinto whichyou are going,orit will becomea snarein your midst.
"Nomanis to comeup with you, norlet anymanbe seenanywhereon the mountain;eventhe flocksand the herdsmay not grazein frontof that mountain."
and commandthe people,saying,"You will passthrough the territoryof your brothersthe sonsof Esauwho livein Seir;and they will be afraidof you. So be verycareful;
"Onlygiveheedto yourself and keepyour souldiligently,sothat you do not forgetthe thingswhichyour eyeshave seenand they do not departfrom your heartallthe daysof your life;but makethem knownto your sonsand your grandsons.
For you have not cometo [a mountain] that can be touchedand to a blazingfire,and to darknessand gloomand whirlwind,
"However,there shall be betweenyou and it a distanceof about 2,000cubitsby measure.Do not comenearit, that you may knowthe wayby whichyou shall go,for you have not passedthis waybefore."
