and were closeto him: Carshena,Shethar,Admatha,Tarshish,Meres,Marsenaand Memucan,the sevenprincesof Persiaand Mediawho had accessto the king'spresenceand satin the firstplace in the kingdom--
Now when the turnof Esther,the daughterof Abihailthe uncleof Mordecaiwhohad takenher as his daughter,cameto goin to the king,she did not requestanythingexceptwhatHegai,the king'seunuchwho was in chargeof the women,advised.And Estherfoundfavorin the eyesof allwho sawher.
He was bringingup Hadassah,that is Esther,his uncle'sdaughter,for she hadnofatherormother.Now the youngladywas beautifulof formand face,and when her fatherand her motherdied,Mordecaitookher as his own daughter.
Esthersaid,"A foeand an enemyis thiswickedHaman!"Then Hamanbecame terrifiedbeforethe kingand queen.
So KingAhasuerussaidto QueenEstherand to Mordecaithe Jew,"Behold,I have giventhe houseof Hamanto Esther,and him they have hangedon the gallowsbecausehe had stretchedout his handsagainst the Jews.
"Surelyeverymanwalksabout as a phantom;Surelythey makean uproarfor nothing;He amasses[riches] and does not knowwhowill gatherthem.
A goodmanleavesan inheritanceto his children'schildren,And the wealthof the sinneris storedup for the righteous.
He who increaseshis wealthby interestand usuryGathersit for him who is graciousto the poor.
"But Godsaidto him, 'You fool!This[very] nightyour soulis requiredof you; and [now] whowill own whatyou have prepared?'
