"The gravenimagesof their godsyou are to burnwith fire;you shall not covetthe silveror the goldthat is on them, nortakeit for yourselves, oryou will be snaredby it, for it is an abominationto the LORDyour God.
He tookthe calfwhichthey had madeand burned[it] with fire,and groundit to powder,and scatteredit overthe surfaceof the waterand made the sonsof Israeldrink[it].
They abandonedtheir godsthere;so Davidgavethe orderand they were burnedwith fire.
"You shall not sacrificeto the LORDyour Godan oxor a sheepwhichhasa blemish[or] anydefect,for that is a detestablethingto the LORDyour God.
when I sawamong the spoila beautifulmantlefrom Shinarand two hundredshekelsof silverand a barof goldfiftyshekelsin weight,then I covetedthem and tookthem; and behold,they are concealedin the earthinsidemy tentwith the silverunderneathit."
"You shall teardowntheir altarsand smashtheir [sacred] pillarsand burntheir Asherimwith fire,and you shall cutdownthe engravedimagesof their godsand obliteratetheir namefrom that place.
And you will defileyour gravenimagesoverlaidwith silver,and your moltenimagesplatedwith gold.You will scatterthem as an impurething,[and] sayto them, "Be gone!"
But the sonsof Israelactedunfaithfullyin regard to the thingsunderthe ban,for Achan,the sonof Carmi,the sonof Zabdi,the sonof Zerah,from the tribeof Judah,tooksomeof the thingsunderthe ban,therefore the angerof the LORDburnedagainst the sonsof Israel.
"You shall not bringthe hireof a harlotor the wagesof a doginto the houseof the LORDyour Godfor anyvotiveoffering,for bothof these are an abominationto the LORDyour God.
"But thusyou shall doto them: you shall teardowntheir altars,and smashtheir [sacred] pillars,and hewdowntheir Asherim,and burntheir gravenimageswith fire.
and on her foreheada name[was] written,a mystery,"BABYLONTHE GREAT,THE MOTHEROF HARLOTSAND OF THE ABOMINATIONSOF THE EARTH."
"I will removemanand beast;I will removethe birdsof the skyAnd the fishof the sea,And the ruinsalongwith the wicked;And I will cutoffmanfrom the faceof the earth,"declaresthe LORD.
"You shall consumeallthe peopleswhomthe LORDyour Godwill deliverto you; your eyeshall not pitythem, norshall you servetheir gods,for that [would be] a snareto you.
But Mosessaid,"It is not rightto doso,for we will sacrificeto the LORDour Godwhat is an abominationto the Egyptians.Ifwe sacrificewhat is an abominationto the Egyptiansbefore their eyes,will they not then stoneus?
"You shall not covetyour neighbor'shouse;you shall not covetyour neighbor'swifeor his maleservantor his femaleservantor his oxor his donkeyor anythingthat belongs to your neighbor."
"Then you shall gatherallits bootyinto the middleof its opensquareand burnthe cityand allits bootywith fireas a wholeburntofferingto the LORDyour God;and it shall be a ruinforever.It shall neverbe rebuilt.
He brokein piecesthe [sacred] pillarsand cutdownthe Asherimand filledtheir placeswith humanbones.
"So he shall burnthe garment,whetherthe warporthe woof,in woolorin linen,oranyarticleof leatherin whichthe markoccurs,for it is a leprousmalignancy;it shall be burnedin the fire.
Do not turnto idolsor makefor yourselves moltengods;I am the LORDyour God.
Cursedis the manwhomakesan idolor a moltenimage,an abominationto the LORD,the workof the handsof the craftsman,and sets[it] up in secret.'And allthe peopleshall answerand say,'Amen.'
Behold,you are of noaccount,And your workamounts to nothing;He who choosesyou is an abomination.
