So Mosesarosewith Joshuahis servant,and Moseswentup to the mountainof God.
Thus the LORDused to speakto Mosesfaceto face,justas a manspeaksto his friend.When Moses returnedto the camp,his servantJoshua,the sonof Nun,a youngman,would not departfrom the tent.
Do you seea manskilledin his work?He will standbeforekings;He will not standbeforeobscuremen.
"Now as for me, behold,I am going to stayat Mizpahto stand[for you] beforethe Chaldeanswhocometo us; but as for you, gatherin wineand summerfruitand oiland put[them] in your [storage] vessels,and livein your citiesthat you have takenover."
Theseare the namesof the menwhomMosessentto spyout the land;but MosescalledHosheathe sonof Nun,Joshua.
from the tribeof Ephraim,Hosheathe sonof Nun;
Surelyyou shall not comeinto the landin whichI sworeto settleyou, exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunnehand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
But Joshuathe sonof Nunand Calebthe sonof Jephunnehremainedaliveout of thosemenwho wentto spyout the land.
For the LORDhad saidof them, "They shall surelydiein the wilderness."And not a manwas leftof them, exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunnehand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
"Theseare the namesof the menwhoshall apportionthe landto you for inheritance:Eleazarthe priestand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
But chargeJoshuaand encouragehim and strengthenhim, for he shall goacrossat the headof thispeople,and he will givethem as an inheritancethe landwhichyou will see.'
Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Behold,the timefor you to dieis near;callJoshua,and presentyourselves at the tentof meeting,that I may commissionhim." So Mosesand Joshuawentand presentedthemselves at the tentof meeting.
Then He commissionedJoshuathe sonof Nun,and said,"Be strongand courageous,for you shall bringthe sonsof Israelinto the landwhichI sworeto them, and I will be with you."
Now it cameabout afterthe deathof Mosesthe servantof the LORD,that the LORDspoketo Joshuathe sonof Nun,Moses'servant,saying,
So Joshuatookthe wholeland,according to allthat the LORDhad spokento Moses,and Joshuagaveit for an inheritanceto Israelaccording to their divisionsby their tribes.Thus the landhadrestfrom war.
Saulsentto Jesse,saying,"Let Davidnowstandbeforeme, for he has foundfavorin my sight."
