Now GodgrantedDanielfavorand compassionin the sightof the commanderof the officials,
But the LORDwas with Josephand extendedkindnessto him, and gavehim favorin the sightof the chiefjailer.
When a man'swaysare pleasingto the LORD,He makesevenhis enemiesto be at peacewith him.
He also madethem [objects] of compassionIn the presenceof alltheir captors.
and forgiveYour peoplewhohave sinnedagainst You and alltheir transgressionswhichthey have transgressedagainst You, and makethem [objects of] compassionbeforethose who have takenthem captive,that they may havecompassionon them
Then the kingsaidto me, "Whatwould you request?"So I prayedto the Godof heaven.
and rescuedhim from allhis afflictions,and grantedhim favorand wisdomin the sightof Pharaoh,kingof Egypt,and he madehim governoroverEgyptand allhis household.
But knowthat the LORDhas setapartthe godlymanfor Himself; The LORDhearswhen I callto Him.
"OLord,I beseechYou, may Your earbe attentiveto the prayerof Your servantand the prayerof Your servantswho delightto revereYour name,and makeYour servantsuccessfultodayand granthim compassionbeforethisman."Now I was the cupbearerto the king.
He said,"Your nameshall nolongerbe Jacob,but Israel;for you have strivenwith Godand with menand have prevailed."
"But He savesfrom the swordof their mouth,And the poorfrom the handof the mighty.
"So the helplesshashope,And unrighteousnessmust shutits mouth.
and the commanderof the officialssaidto Daniel,"I am afraidof my lordthe king,whohas appointedyour foodand your drink;for whyshould he seeyour faceslookingmorehaggardthanthe youthswhoare your own age?Then you would make me forfeitmy headto the king."
Now the youngladypleasedhim and foundfavorwith him. So he quicklyprovidedher with her cosmeticsand food,gaveher sevenchoicemaidsfrom the king'spalaceand transferredher and her maidsto the bestplace in the harem.
