The LORDsaidto me, "Whatdo you see,Amos?"And I said,"A plumbline."Then the Lordsaid,"BeholdI am about to puta plumblineIn the midstof My peopleIsrael.I will sparethem nolonger.
I will stretchoverJerusalemthe lineof Samariaand the plummetof the houseof Ahab,and I will wipeJerusalemas one wipesa dish,wipingit and turningit upsidedown.
"I will makejusticethe measuringlineAnd righteousnessthe level;Then hailwill sweepawaythe refugeof liesAnd the waterswill overflowthe secretplace.
But pelicanand hedgehogwill possessit, And owland ravenwill dwellin it; And He will stretchoverit the lineof desolationAnd the plumblineof emptiness.
"You who have forsakenMe," declaresthe LORD,"You keep goingbackward.So I will stretchout My handagainstyou and destroyyou; I am tiredof relenting!
The LORDdeterminedto destroyThe wallof the daughterof Zion.He has stretchedout a line,He has not restrainedHis handfrom destroying,And He has caused rampartand wallto lament;They have languishedtogether.
Then she conceivedagainand gavebirthto a daughter.And the LORD saidto him, "Nameher Lo-ruhamah,for I will nolongerhavecompassionon the houseof Israel,that I would everforgivethem.
ThusHe showedme, and behold,the Lordwas standingby a verticalwallwith a plumblinein His hand.
He said,"Whatdo you see,Amos?"And I said,"A basketof summerfruit."Then the LORDsaidto me, "The endhas comefor My peopleIsrael.I will sparethem nolonger.
Whois a GodlikeYou, who pardonsiniquityAnd passesoverthe rebelliousactof the remnantof His possession?He does not retainHis angerforever,BecauseHe delightsin unchanginglove.
"For whohas despisedthe dayof smallthings?But thesesevenwill be gladwhen they seethe plumblinein the handof Zerubbabel--[these are] the eyesof the LORDwhichrangeto and frothroughoutthe earth."
He saidto me, "Whatdo you see?"And I said,"I see,and behold,a lampstandallof goldwith its bowlon the topof it, and its sevenlampson it with sevenspoutsbelonging to each of the lampswhichare on the topof it;
And he saidto me, "Whatdo you see?"And I answered,"I seea flyingscroll;its lengthis twentycubitsand its widthtencubits."
