Nowwhen they heardof the resurrectionof the dead,some[began] to sneer,but otherssaid,"We shall hearyou againconcerningthis."
"Whyis it consideredincredibleamongyou [people] ifGoddoes raisethe dead?
And alsosomeof the Epicureanand Stoicphilosopherswere conversingwith him. Somewere saying,"Whatwould thisidle babblerwishto say?"Others,"He seemsto be a proclaimerof strangedeities,"--becausehe was preachingJesusand the resurrection.
for He says,"AT THE ACCEPTABLETIMEI LISTENEDTO YOU, AND ON THE DAYOF SALVATIONI HELPEDYOU." Behold,nowis "THE ACCEPTABLETIME,"behold,nowis "THE DAYOF SALVATION"--
but they [simply] hadsomepoints of disagreementwith him abouttheir ownreligionand abouta deadman,Jesus,whomPaulassertedto be alive.
But as he was discussingrighteousness,self-controland the judgmentto come,Felixbecamefrightenedand said,"Go awayfor the present,and when I findtimeI will summonyou."
But otherswere mockingand saying,"They are fullof sweet wine."
We are foolsfor Christ'ssake,but you are prudentin Christ;we are weak,but you are strong;you are distinguished,but we are without honor.
becauseHe has fixeda dayin whichHe willjudgethe worldin righteousnessthrougha ManwhomHe has appointed,having furnishedproofto all menby raisingHim from the dead."
"But they allalikebeganto makeexcuses.The first onesaidto him, 'I have boughta piece of landand I needto goout and lookat it; pleaseconsiderme excused.'
but they [continually] mockedthe messengersof God,despisedHis wordsand scoffedat His prophets,untilthe wrathof the LORDaroseagainst His people,untiltherewas noremedy.
but we preachChristcrucified,to Jewsa stumbling blockand to Gentilesfoolishness,
BEHOLD,YOU SCOFFERS,AND MARVEL,AND PERISH;FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHINGA WORKIN YOUR DAYS,A WORKWHICHYOU WILL NEVERBELIEVE,THOUGHSOMEONESHOULD DESCRIBEIT TO YOU.'"
So,let us goout to Him outsidethe camp,bearingHis reproach.
and othersexperiencedmockingsand scourgings,yes,alsochainsand imprisonment.
The soldiersalsomockedHim, comingup to Him, offeringHim sour wine,
And Herodwith his soldiers,after treating Him with contemptand mockingHim, dressedHim in a gorgeousrobeand sent Him backto Pilate.
Now the menwho were holding Jesus in custodywere mockingHim and beatingHim,
Lotwentout and spoketo his sons-in-law,who were to marryhis daughters,and said,"Up, getout of thisplace,for the LORDwill destroythe city."But he appearedto his sons-in-lawto be jesting.

NowifChristis preached,that He has been raisedfrom the dead,howdo someamongyou saythat there is noresurrectionof the dead?
