At thistimePeterstoodup in the midstof the brethren(a gatheringof aboutone hundredand twentypersonswas there together),and said,
Thenit seemed goodto the apostlesand the elders,with the wholechurch,to choosemenfrom amongthem to sendto Antiochwith Pauland Barnabas--JudascalledBarsabbas,and Silas,leadingmenamongthe brethren,
Paul camealsoto Derbeand to Lystra.And a disciplewas there,namedTimothy,the sonof a Jewishwomanwho was a believer,but his fatherwas a Greek,
The brethrenimmediatelysentPauland Silasawayby nightto Berea,and when they arrived,they wentinto the synagogueof the Jews.
Nowthosewho escortedPaulbroughthim as faras Athens;and receivinga commandfor Silasand Timothyto cometo him as soonas possible,they left.
And someof them were persuadedand joinedPauland Silas,alongwith a largenumberof the God-fearingGreeksand a numberof the leadingwomen.
When they did not findthem, they [began] draggingJasonand somebrethrenbeforethe city authorities,shouting,"These menwho have upsetthe worldhave comeherealso;
But whenSilasand Timothycame downfrom Macedonia,Paul[began] devoting himself completelyto the word,solemnly testifyingto the Jewsthat Jesuswas the Christ.
And having sentinto Macedoniatwoof thosewho ministeredto him, Timothyand Erastus,he himselfstayedin Asiafor a while.
And [there] he spentthreemonths,and when a plotwas formedagainsthim by the Jewsas he was aboutto set sailfor Syria,he decidedto returnthroughMacedonia.
but his disciplestookhim by nightand let him downthrough[an opening in] the wall,loweringhim in a large basket.
But when the brethrenlearned[of it], they brought him downto Caesareaand sent him awayto Tarsus.
As I urgedyou upon my departurefor Macedonia,remainon at Ephesussothat you may instructcertain mennot to teach strange doctrines,
For thisreasonI leftyou in Crete,that you would set in orderwhat remainsand appointeldersin everycityas I directedyou,
She saidto them, "Goto the hillcountry,sothat the pursuerswill not happenupon you, and hideyourselves therefor threedaysuntilthe pursuersreturn.Then afterwardyou may goon your way."
