Therefore,being sent on their wayby the church,they were passing throughbothPhoeniciaand Samaria,describing in detailthe conversionof the Gentiles,and were bringinggreatjoyto allthe brethren.
But we hadto celebrateand rejoice,for thisbrotherof yourswas deadand [has begun] to live,and [was] lostand has been found.'"
At thistimePeterstoodup in the midstof the brethren(a gatheringof aboutone hundredand twentypersonswas there together),and said,
When the Gentilesheardthis, they [began] rejoicingand glorifyingthe wordof the Lord;and as manyas had beenappointedto eternallifebelieved.
And the discipleswere continually filledwith joyand with the HolySpirit.
When they had arrivedand gatheredthe churchtogether,they [began] to reportall thingsthat Godhad donewith them and howHe had openeda doorof faithto the Gentiles.
Some mencame downfrom Judeaand [began] teachingthe brethren,"Unlessyou are circumcisedaccording to the customof Moses,you cannotbe saved."
Allthe peoplekept silent,and they were listeningto Barnabasand Paulas they were relatingwhatsignsand wondersGodhad donethroughthem amongthe Gentiles.
Thenit seemed goodto the apostlesand the elders,with the wholechurch,to choosemenfrom amongthem to sendto Antiochwith Pauland Barnabas--JudascalledBarsabbas,and Silas,leadingmenamongthe brethren,
Judasand Silas,alsobeingprophetsthemselves,encouragedand strengthenedthe brethrenwith a lengthymessage.
When they arrivedat Jerusalem,they were receivedby the churchand the apostlesand the elders,and they reportedallthat Godhad donewith them.
Nowthosewho escortedPaulbroughthim as faras Athens;and receivinga commandfor Silasand Timothyto cometo him as soonas possible,they left.
grievingespeciallyoverthe wordwhichhe had spoken,that they wouldnot seehis faceagain.And they were accompanyinghim to the ship.
Whenour daysthere were ended,we leftand startedon our journey,while they all,with wivesand children,escortedus until[we were] out of the city.After kneelingdownon the beachand praying,we said farewellto one another.
And the brethren,when they heardaboutus, camefrom thereas faras the Marketof Appiusand ThreeInnsto meetus; and when Paulsawthem, he thankedGodand tookcourage.
Nowwhen the apostlesin Jerusalemheardthat Samariahad receivedthe wordof God,they sentthem Peterand John,
wheneverI goto Spain--for I hopeto seeyou in passing,and to be helped on my waythereby you, when I have firstenjoyedyour company for a while--
Solet noonedespisehim. But send him on his wayin peace,sothat he may cometo me; for I expecthim with the brethren.
and perhapsI will staywith you, orevenspend the winter,sothat you may send me on my waywhereverI may go.
that is, to passyour wayinto Macedonia,and againfrom Macedoniato cometo you, and by you to be helped on my journeyto Judea.
