Davidbuilttherean altarto the LORDand offeredburntofferingsand peaceofferings.Thus the LORDwas movedby prayerfor the land,and the plaguewas heldbackfrom Israel.
The LORDappearedto Abramand said,"To your descendantsI will givethisland."So he builtan altarthereto the LORDwho had appearedto him.
Then they cameto the placeof whichGodhad toldhim; and Abrahambuiltthe altarthereand arrangedthe wood,and boundhis sonIsaacand laidhim on the altar,on topof the wood.
Then Noahbuiltan altarto the LORD,and tookof everycleananimaland of everycleanbirdand offeredburntofferingson the altar.
They buriedthe bonesof Sauland Jonathanhis sonin the countryof Benjaminin Zela,in the graveof Kishhis father;thus they didallthat the kingcommanded,and afterthat Godwas movedby prayerfor the land.
Then Davidsaidto Gad,"I am in greatdistress.Let us nowfallinto the handof the LORDfor His merciesare great,but do not let me fallinto the handof man."
Now KingDavidwas old,advancedin age;and they coveredhim with clothes,but he could not keepwarm.
"So I will calmMy furyagainst you and My jealousywill departfrom you, and I will be pacifiedand angrynomore.
"Everyonewho comesnear,who comesnearto the tabernacleof the LORD,must die.Are we to perishcompletely?"
It cameabout the nextdaythat the peoplearoseearlyand builtan altarthereand offeredburntofferingsand peaceofferings.
Then Gideonbuiltan altarthereto the LORDand namedit The LORDis Peace.To thisdayit is stillin Ophrahof the Abiezrites.
So Saulsaid,"Bringto me the burntofferingand the peaceofferings."And he offeredthe burntoffering.
And Saulbuiltan altarto the LORD;it was the firstaltarthat he builtto the LORD.
Then his return[was] to Ramah,for his house[was] there,and therehe judgedIsrael;and he builttherean altarto the LORD.
Samueltooka sucklinglamband offeredit for a wholeburntofferingto the LORD;and Samuelcriedto the LORDfor Israeland the LORDansweredhim.
