When they cameto the threshingfloorof Atad,whichis beyondthe Jordan,they lamentedtherewith a verygreatand sorrowfullamentation;and he observedsevendaysmourningfor his father.
So Gadcameto Davidthat dayand saidto him, "Goup, erectan altarto the LORDon the threshingfloorof Araunahthe Jebusite."
Araunahlookeddownand sawthe kingand his servantscrossingovertowardhim; and Araunahwentout and bowedhis faceto the groundbefore the king.
But Joabsaidto the king,"Now may the LORDyour Godaddto the peoplea hundredtimesas many as they are, while the eyesof my lordthe king[still] see;but whydoes my lordthe kingdelightin thisthing?"
Then Davidsaidto Ornan,"Giveme the siteof [this] threshingfloor,that I may buildon it an altarto the LORD;for the fullpriceyou shall giveit to me, that the plaguemay be restrainedfrom the people."
Then Phinehasstoodup and interposed,And so the plaguewas stayed.
and he wentafterthe manof Israelinto the tentand piercedbothof them through,the manof Israeland the woman,throughthe body.So the plagueon the sonsof Israelwas checked.
