He hangedthe kingof Aion a treeuntilevening;and at sunsetJoshuagavecommandand they tookhis bodydownfrom the treeand threwit at the entranceof the citygate,and raisedoverit a greatheapof stones[that stands] to thisday.
Then Samueltookthe flaskof oil,pouredit on his head,kissedhim and said,"Has not the LORDanointedyou a ruleroverHis inheritance?
Samuelsaidto allthe people,"Do you seehim whomthe LORDhas chosen?Surelythereis noonelikehim among allthe people."So allthe peopleshoutedand said,"[Long] livethe king!"
Saulalsowentto his houseat Gibeah;and the valiant[men] whoseheartsGodhad touchedwentwith him.
Then the messengerscameto Gibeahof Sauland spokethese wordsin the hearingof the people,and allthe peopleliftedup their voicesand wept.
"So nowswearto me by the LORDthat you will not cutoffmy descendantsafterme and that you will not destroymy namefrom my father'shousehold."
Davidsworeto Saul.And Saulwentto his home,but Davidand his menwentup to the stronghold.
