Joabreplied,"Farbe it, farbe it from me that I should swallowup or destroy!

And they buriedhim in the territoryof his inheritancein Timnath-heres,in the hillcountryof Ephraim,northof MountGaash.
Gideonsentmessengersthroughoutallthe hillcountryof Ephraim,saying,"ComedownagainstMidianand takethe watersbefore them, as faras Beth-barahand the Jordan."So allthe menof Ephraimwere summonedand they tookthe watersas faras Beth-barahand the Jordan.
When the menof Israelsawthat Abimelechwas dead,eachdepartedto his home.
So he saidto his men,"Farbe it from me becauseof the LORDthat I should dothisthingto my lord,the LORD'Sanointed,to stretchout my handagainst him, sincehe is the LORD'Sanointed."
But Davidsaidto Abishai,"Do not destroyhim, for whocan stretchout his handagainst the LORD'Sanointedand be withoutguilt?"
