So Nathanwentto his house.Then the LORDstruckthe childthat Uriah'swidowboreto David,so that he was [very] sick.
Again I said,"The thingwhichyou are doingis not good;should you not walkin the fearof our Godbecauseof the reproachof the nations,our enemies?
May those who waitfor You not be ashamedthrough me, O LordGODof hosts;May those who seekYou not be dishonoredthrough me, O Godof Israel,
Howlong,O God,will the adversaryrevile,[And] the enemyspurnYour nameforever?
Blessedis the manwhomYou chasten,O LORD,And whom You teachout of Your law;
O LORDour God,You answeredthem; You were a forgivingGodto them, And [yet] an avengerof their [evil] deeds.
"Nowtherefore, whatdo I have here,"declaresthe LORD,"seeing that My peoplehave been takenaway withoutcause?"[Again] the LORDdeclares,"Those who ruleover them howl,and My nameis continuallyblasphemedalldaylong.
"You onlyhave I chosenamongallthe familiesof the earth;ThereforeI will punishyou for allyour iniquities."
"Woeto the worldbecauseof [its] stumblingblocks!For it is inevitablethat stumbling blockscome;but woeto that manthroughwhomthe stumbling blockcomes!
For "THE NAMEOF GODIS BLASPHEMEDAMONGTHE GENTILESBECAUSEOF YOU," justas it is written.
But when we are judged,we are disciplinedby the Lordsothat we will not be condemnedalongwith the world.
FOR THOSE WHOMTHE LORDLOVESHE DISCIPLINES,AND HE SCOURGESEVERYSONWHOMHE RECEIVES."
