Then Hazaelsaid,"But whatis your servant,[who is but] a dog,that he should dothisgreatthing?"And Elishaanswered,"The LORDhas shownme that you will be kingoverAram."
Again he prostratedhimself and said,"Whatis your servant,that you should regarda deaddoglikeme?"
The LORDsaidto him, "Go,returnon your wayto the wildernessof Damascus,and when you have arrived,you shall anointHazaelkingoverAram;
Now Hazaelkingof Aramhad oppressedIsraelallthe daysof Jehoahaz.
Then Elishasaidto him, "Go,sayto him, 'You will surelyrecover,'but the LORDhas shownme that he will certainlydie."
For dogshave surroundedme; A bandof evildoershas encompassedme; They piercedmy handsand my feet.
Delivermy soulfrom the sword,My only[life] from the powerof the dog.
"The heartis moredeceitfulthanallelse And is desperatelysick;Whocan understandit?
Woeto those who schemeiniquity,Who workout evilon their beds!When morningcomes, they doit, For it is in the powerof their hands.
"Do not givewhatis holyto dogs,and do not throwyour pearlsbeforeswine,orthey will trample them undertheir feet,and turnand tear you to pieces.
Bewareof the dogs,bewareof the evilworkers,bewareof the false circumcision;
Outsideare the dogsand the sorcerersand the immoral personsand the murderersand the idolaters,and everyonewho lovesand practiceslying.
The Philistinesaidto David,"Am I a dog,that you cometo me with sticks?"And the PhilistinecursedDavidby his gods.
