When the kingof Moabsawthat the battlewas toofiercefor him, he tookwith him 700menwho drewswords,to breakthroughto the kingof Edom;but they couldnot.
Thus they destroyedthe cities;and eachonethrewa stoneon everypieceof goodlandand filledit. So they stoppedallthe springsof waterand felledallthe goodtrees,untilin Kir-hareseth[only] they leftits stones;however, the slingerswentabout[it] and struckit.
Then he tookhis oldestsonwhowas to reignin his place,and offeredhim as a burntofferingon the wall.And there camegreatwrathagainstIsrael,and they departedfrom him and returnedto their own land.
So the kingof Israelwentwith the kingof Judahand the kingof Edom;and they madea circuitof sevendays'journey,and there was nowaterfor the armyor for the cattlethat followedthem.
In his daysEdomrevoltedfrom underthe handof Judah,and madea kingoverthemselves.
