But Amaziahwould not listen.So Jehoashkingof Israelwentup; and he and Amaziahkingof Judahfacedeach other at Beth-shemesh,whichbelongs to Judah.
ThenAmaziahsentmessengersto Jehoash,the sonof Jehoahazsonof Jehu,kingof Israel,saying,"Come,let us faceeach other."
"Therefore,behold,I will gatheryou to your fathers,and you will be gatheredto your gravein peace,and your eyeswill not seeallthe evilwhichI will bringon thisplace."'"So they broughtbackwordto the king.

When Ahaziahthe kingof Judahsaw[this], he fledby the wayof the gardenhouse.And Jehupursuedhim and said,"Shoothim too,in the chariot."[So they shot him] at the ascentof Gur,whichis at Ibleam.But he fledto Megiddoand diedthere.
Thereis futilitywhichis doneon the earth,that is, thereare righteousmento whomit happensaccording to the deedsof the wicked.On the other hand, thereare evilmento whomit happensaccording to the deedsof the righteous.I saythat thistoois futility.
Do not weepfor the deador mournfor him, [But] weepcontinuallyfor the one who goesaway; For he will neverreturnOr seehis nativeland.
For thussaysthe LORDin regardto Shallumthe sonof Josiah,kingof Judah,who becamekingin the placeof Josiahhis father,whowentforthfrom thisplace,"He will neverreturnthere;
but in the placewherethey ledhim captive,therehe will dieand not seethislandagain.

Let not the swiftmanflee,Northe mightymanescape;In the northbesidethe riverEuphratesThey have stumbledand fallen.
"As for you, takeup a lamentationfor the princesof Israel
"In that daythere will be greatmourningin Jerusalem,like the mourningof Hadadrimmonin the plainof Megiddo.
Oh,the depthof the richesbothof the wisdomand knowledgeof God!Howunsearchableare His judgmentsand unfathomableHis ways!
In Issacharand in Asher,ManassehhadBeth-sheanand its townsand Ibleamand its towns,and the inhabitantsof Dorand its towns,and the inhabitantsof En-dorand its towns,and the inhabitantsof Taanachand its towns,and the inhabitantsof Megiddoand its towns,the thirdis Napheth.
And they gathered them togetherto the placewhich in Hebrewis calledHar-Magedon.
But Manassehdid not takepossessionof Beth-sheanand its villages,or Taanachand its villages,or the inhabitantsof Dorand its villages,or the inhabitantsof Ibleamand its villages,or the inhabitantsof Megiddoand its villages;so the Canaanitespersistedin livingin that land.
