And he tookcourageand rebuiltallthe wallthat had been brokendownand erectedtowerson it, and [built] anotheroutsidewalland strengthenedthe Millo[in] the cityof David,and madeweaponsand shieldsin greatnumber.
So Davidlivedin the strongholdand calledit the cityof David.And Davidbuiltallaroundfrom the Milloand inward.
Now thiswas the reasonwhyhe rebelledagainst the king:Solomonbuiltthe Millo,[and] closedup the breachof the cityof his fatherDavid.
As soonas Pharaoh'sdaughtercameup from the cityof Davidto her housewhich[Solomon] had builtfor her, thenhe builtthe Millo.
His servantsaroseand madea conspiracyand struckdownJoashat the houseof Millo[as he was] goingdownto Silla.
Then the citywas brokeninto, and allthe menof war[fled] by nightby wayof the gatebetweenthe two wallsbesidethe king'sgarden,though the Chaldeanswere allaroundthe city.And they wentby wayof the Arabah.
When the kingdomof Rehoboamwas establishedand strong,he and allIsraelwith him forsookthe lawof the LORD.
Now in the seventhyearJehoiadastrengthenedhimself, and tookcaptainsof hundreds:Azariahthe sonof Jeroham,Ishmaelthe sonof Johanan,Azariahthe sonof Obed,Maaseiahthe sonof Adaiah,and Elishaphatthe sonof Zichri,[and they entered] into a covenantwith him.
Then Joashkingof IsraelcapturedAmaziahkingof Judah,the sonof Joashthe sonof Jehoahaz,at Beth-shemesh,and broughthim to Jerusalemand toredownthe wallof Jerusalemfrom the Gateof Ephraimto the CornerGate,400cubits.
The Ammonitesalso gavetributeto Uzziah,and his fameextendedto the borderof Egypt,for he becameverystrong.
Now afterthishe builtthe outerwallof the cityof Davidon the westsideof Gihon,in the valley,even to the entranceof the FishGate;and he encircledthe Ophel[with it] and madeit veryhigh.Then he putarmycommandersin allthe fortifiedcitiesof Judah.
[Like] a citythat is brokeninto [and] withoutwallsIs a manwhohasnocontrolover his spirit.
WhenZedekiahthe kingof Judahand allthe menof warsawthem, they fledand wentout of the cityat nightby wayof the king'sgardenthrough the gatebetweenthe two walls;and he wentout towardthe Arabah.
They do not crowdeachother,They marcheveryonein his path;When they burstthroughthe defenses,They do not breakranks.
Allthe menof Shechemand allBeth-milloassembledtogether, and they wentand madeAbimelechking,by the oakof the pillarwhichwas in Shechem.
