He then stationedthe Levitesin the houseof the LORDwith cymbals,with harpsand with lyres,according to the commandof Davidand of Gadthe king'sseer,and of Nathanthe prophet;for the commandwas from the LORDthroughHis prophets.
When Davidarosein the morning,the wordof the LORDcameto the prophetGad,David'sseer,saying,
And with them [were] Hemanand Jeduthun[with] trumpetsand cymbalsfor those who should soundaloud, and [with] instruments[for] the songsof God,and the sonsof Jeduthunfor the gate.
The LORDspoketo Gad,David'sseer,saying,
and 4,000[were] gatekeepers,and 4,000[were] praisingthe LORDwith the instrumentswhichDavid madefor givingpraise.
and the planof allthat he hadin mind,for the courtsof the houseof the LORD,and for allthe surroundingrooms,for the storehousesof the houseof Godand for the storehousesof the dedicatedthings;
"All[this]," [said David], "the LORDmade me understandin writingby His handupon me, allthe detailsof this pattern."
Now the actsof KingDavid,from firstto last,are writtenin the chroniclesof Samuelthe seer,in the chroniclesof Nathanthe prophetand in the chroniclesof Gadthe seer,
Now theseare the singers,headsof fathers'[households] of the Levites,[who lived] in the chambers[of the temple] free[from other service]; for they were engagedin their workdayand night.
The handof Godwas alsoon Judahto givethem oneheartto dowhatthe kingand the princescommandedby the wordof the LORD.
The sonsof Israelpresentin Jerusalemcelebratedthe Feastof UnleavenedBread[for] sevendayswith greatjoy,and the Levitesand the priestspraisedthe LORDdayafter daywith loudinstrumentsto the LORD.
The singers,the sonsof Asaph,[were] also at their stationsaccording to the commandof David,Asaph,Heman,and Jeduthunthe king'sseer;and the gatekeepersat eachgatedid not haveto departfrom their service,becausethe Levitestheir brethrenpreparedfor them.
Now according to the ordinanceof his fatherDavid,he appointedthe divisionsof the priestsfor their service,and the Levitesfor their dutiesof praiseand ministeringbeforethe priestsaccording to the dailyrule,and the gatekeepersby their divisionsat everygate;for Davidthe manof Godhad socommanded.
Now at the dedicationof the wallof Jerusalemthey soughtout the Levitesfrom alltheir places,to bringthem to Jerusalemso that they might celebratethe dedicationwith gladness,with hymnsof thanksgivingand with songs[to the accompaniment] of cymbals,harpsand lyres.
The prophetGadsaidto David,"Do not stayin the stronghold;depart,and gointo the landof Judah."So Daviddepartedand wentinto the forestof Hereth.
