Then Jehoashkingof IsraelcapturedAmaziahkingof Judah,the sonof Jehoashthe sonof Ahaziah,at Beth-shemesh,and cameto Jerusalemand toredownthe wallof Jerusalemfrom the Gateof Ephraimto the CornerGate,400cubits.
and they cameagainst Judahand invadedit, and carriedaway allthe possessionsfoundin the king'shousetogetherwith his sonsand his wives,so that nosonwas leftto him exceptJehoahaz,the youngestof his sons.
Then the inhabitantsof JerusalemmadeAhaziah,his youngestson,kingin his place,for the bandof men who camewith the Arabsto the camphad slainallthe older[sons]. So Ahaziahthe sonof Jehoramkingof Judahbegan to reign.
So he returnedto be healedin Jezreelof the woundswhichthey had inflictedon him at Ramah,when he foughtagainstHazaelkingof Aram.And Ahaziah,the sonof Jehoramkingof Judah,wentdownto seeJehoramthe sonof Ahabin Jezreel,becausehe was sick.
Judahwas defeatedby Israel,and they fledeachto his tent.
Moreover, Uzziahbuilttowersin Jerusalemat the CornerGateand at the ValleyGateand at the cornerbuttressand fortifiedthem.
And he tookcourageand rebuiltallthe wallthat had been brokendownand erectedtowerson it, and [built] anotheroutsidewalland strengthenedthe Millo[in] the cityof David,and madeweaponsand shieldsin greatnumber.
Therefore the LORDbroughtthe commandersof the armyof the kingof Assyriaagainstthem, and they capturedManassehwith hooks,boundhim with bronze[chains] and tookhim to Babylon.
At the turnof the yearKingNebuchadnezzarsentand broughthim to Babylonwith the valuablearticlesof the houseof the LORD,and he madehis kinsmanZedekiahkingoverJudahand Jerusalem.
Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babyloncameup againsthim and boundhim with bronze[chains] to takehim to Babylon.
and abovethe Gateof Ephraim,by the OldGate,by the FishGate,the Towerof Hananeland the Towerof the Hundred,as faras the SheepGate;and they stoppedat the Gateof the Guard.
So the peoplewentout and brought[them] and madeboothsfor themselves, eachon his roof,and in their courtsand in the courtsof the houseof God,and in the squareat the WaterGateand in the squareat the Gateof Ephraim.
Pride[goes] beforedestruction,And a haughtyspiritbeforestumbling.
A man'spridewill bringhim low,But a humblespiritwill obtainhonor.
"Behold,daysare coming,"declaresthe LORD,"when the citywill be rebuiltfor the LORDfrom the Towerof Hananelto the CornerGate.
"NowI, Nebuchadnezzar,praise,exaltand honorthe Kingof heaven,for allHis worksare true and His waysjust,and He is ableto humblethose whowalkin pride."
"The arroganceof your hearthas deceivedyou, You who livein the cleftsof the rock,In the loftinessof your dwellingplace,Who sayin your heart,Whowill bringme downto earth?'
"For everyonewho exaltshimselfwill be humbled,and he who humbleshimselfwill be exalted."
