But to his sonI will giveonetribe,that My servantDavidmay havea lampalwaysbeforeMe in Jerusalem,the citywhereI have chosenfor Myself to putMy name.
When allIsrael[saw] that the kingdid not listento them the peopleansweredthe king,saying,"Whatportiondo we have in David?[We have] noinheritancein the sonof Jesse.Everymanto your tents,O Israel;Nowlookafter your own house,David."So allIsraeldepartedto their tents.
Then KingRehoboamsentHadoram,whowas overthe forcedlabor,and the sonsof Israelstonedhim to death.And KingRehoboammadehasteto mounthis chariotto fleeto Jerusalem.
Now when Rehoboamhad cometo Jerusalem,he assembledthe houseof Judahand Benjamin,180000chosenmen who were warriors,to fightagainstIsraelto restorethe kingdomto Rehoboam.
[He put] shieldsand spearsin everycityand strengthenedthem greatly.So he heldJudahand Benjamin.
"Speakto Rehoboamthe sonof Solomon,kingof Judah,and to allIsraelin Judahand Benjamin,saying,
"And you, sonof man,takefor yourself onestickand writeon it, 'For Judahand for the sonsof Israel,his companions;then takeanotherstickand writeon it, 'For Joseph,the stickof Ephraimand allthe houseof Israel,his companions.'
