Then Saulsaidto his servant,"But behold,if we go,whatshall we bringthe man?For the breadis gonefrom our sackand thereis nopresentto bringto the manof God.Whatdo we have?"
Then the kingsaidto the manof God,"Comehomewith me and refreshyourself, and I will giveyou a reward."
"Taketenloaveswith you, [some] cakesand a jarof honey,and goto him. He will tellyou whatwill happento the boy."
Now a mancamefrom Baal-shalishah,and broughtthe manof Godbreadof the firstfruits,twentyloavesof barleyand freshearsof grainin his sack.And he said,"Give[them] to the peoplethat they may eat."
When he returnedto the manof Godwith allhis company,and cameand stoodbeforehim, he said,"Beholdnow,I knowthat thereis noGodin allthe earth,but in Israel;so pleasetakea presentfrom your servantnow."
Then the kingof Aramsaid,"Gonow,and I will senda letterto the kingof Israel."He departedand tookwith him tentalentsof silverand sixthousand[shekels] of goldand tenchangesof clothes.
The kingsaidto Hazael,"Takea giftin your handand goto meetthe manof God,and inquireof the LORDby him, saying,'Will I recoverfrom thissickness?'"
So Hazaelwentto meethim and tooka giftin his hand,even everykind of goodthingof Damascus,fortycamels'loads;and he cameand stoodbeforehim and said,"Your sonBen-hadadkingof Aramhas sentme to you, saying,'Will I recoverfrom thissickness?'"
"For handfulsof barleyand fragmentsof bread,you have profanedMe to My peopleto putto deathsomewhoshould not dieand to keepothersalivewhoshould not live,by your lyingto My peoplewho listento lies."'"
"Pleasedo not departfrom here,untilI come[back] to You, and bringout my offeringand layit beforeYou." And He said,"I will remainuntilyou return."
