So Davidtookthe spearand the jugof waterfrom [beside] Saul'shead,and they wentaway, but noonesawor knew[it], nordid any awake,for they were allasleep,becausea soundsleepfrom the LORDhad fallenon them.
Now when the sunwas goingdown, a deepsleepfellupon Abram;and behold,terror[and] greatdarknessfellupon him.
So the LORDGodcaused a deepsleepto fallupon the man,and he slept;then He tookoneof his ribsand closedup the fleshat that place.
During that nightthe kingcouldnot sleepso he gavean orderto bringthe bookof records,the chronicles,and they were readbeforethe king.
For the LORDhas pouredoveryou a spiritof deepsleep,He has shutyour eyes,the prophets;And He has coveredyour heads,the seers.
The menof Davidsaidto him, "Behold,[this is] the dayof whichthe LORDsaidto you, 'Behold;I am about to giveyour enemyinto your hand,and you shall doto him as it seemsgoodto you.'" Then Davidaroseand cutoffthe edgeof Saul'srobesecretly.
Then Davidcrossedoverto the othersideand stoodon topof the mountainat a distance[with] a largeareabetweenthem.
So Davidand Abishaicameto the peopleby night,and behold,Saullaysleepinginside the circleof the campwith his spearstuckin the groundat his head;and Abnerand the peoplewere lyingaroundhim.
