But the servantsof the kingwere not willingto putforththeir handsto attackthe priestsof the LORD.
Now it cameabout afterthisthat Absalomprovidedfor himself a chariotand horsesand fiftymenas runnersbeforehim.

Behold,the daysare comingwhen I will breakyour strengthand the strengthof your father'shousesothat there will not be an oldmanin your house.
Then Saulhurledhis spearat him to strikehim down;so Jonathanknewthat his fatherhad decidedto putDavidto death.
Saulthen saidto him, "Whyhave you and the sonof Jesseconspiredagainstme, in that you have givenhim breadand a swordand have inquiredof Godfor him, so that he would riseup againstme by lyingin ambushas [it is] thisday?"
But the kingsaid,"You shall surelydie,Ahimelech,you and allyour father'shousehold!"
"Nowtherefore, knowand considerwhatyou should do,for evilis plottedagainstour masterand againstallhis household;and he is such a worthlessmanthat noone can speakto him."
He said,"Thiswill be the procedureof the kingwhowill reignoveryou: he will takeyour sonsand place[them] for himself in his chariotsand among his horsemenand they will runbeforehis chariots.
