But Sauland the peoplesparedAgagand the bestof the sheep,the oxen,the fatlings,the lambs,and allthat was good,and were not willingto destroythem utterly;but everythingdespisedand worthless,that they utterlydestroyed.
And so it was, that whenthe bearersof the arkof the LORDhad gonesixpaces,he sacrificedan oxand a fatling.
[Ben-hadad] saidto him, "The citieswhichmy fathertookfrom your fatherI will restore,and you shall makestreetsfor yourself in Damascus,as my fathermadein Samaria."[Ahab said], "And I will letyou gowith this covenant."So he madea covenantwith him and lethim go.
"For this[perfume] mighthave been soldfor a high priceand [the money] givento the poor."
"But as for you, onlykeepyourselves from the thingsunderthe ban,sothat you do not covet[them] and takesomeof the thingsunderthe ban,and makethe campof Israelaccursedand bringtroubleon it.
when I sawamong the spoila beautifulmantlefrom Shinarand two hundredshekelsof silverand a barof goldfiftyshekelsin weight,then I covetedthem and tookthem; and behold,they are concealedin the earthinsidemy tentwith the silverunderneathit."
Then the wordof the LORDcameto Samuel,saying,
Saulsaid,"They have broughtthem from the Amalekites,for the peoplesparedthe bestof the sheepand oxen,to sacrificeto the LORDyour God;but the restwe have utterlydestroyed."
"Whythen did you not obeythe voiceof the LORD,but rushedupon the spoiland didwhatwas evilin the sightof the LORD?"
Nowgoand strikeAmalekand utterlydestroyallthat he has, and do not sparehim; but putto deathbothmanand woman,childand infant,oxand sheep,cameland donkey.'"
"As you did not obeythe LORDand did not executeHis fiercewrathon Amalek,sothe LORDhas donethisthingto you thisday.
