Therefore,putting asideallmaliceand alldeceitand hypocrisyand envyand allslander,
"But the godlessin heartlayup anger;They do not cryfor helpwhenHe bindsthem.
How blessedis the manto whom the LORDdoes not imputeiniquity,And in whose spiritthereis nodeceit!
Keepyour tonguefrom evilAnd your lipsfrom speakingdeceit.
Do not fretbecause of evildoers,Be not envioustoward wrongdoers.
For I was enviousof the arrogant[As] I sawthe prosperityof the wicked.
A tranquilheartis lifeto the body,But passionis rottennessto the bones.
Do not be enviousof evilmen,Nordesireto be with them;
Do not fretbecause of evildoersOr be enviousof the wicked;
Do not envya manof violenceAnd do not chooseanyof his ways.
In that daymenwill castawayto the molesand the batsTheir idolsof silverand their idolsof gold,Whichthey madefor themselves to worship,
And you will defileyour gravenimagesoverlaidwith silver,and your moltenimagesplatedwith gold.You will scatterthem as an impurething,[and] sayto them, "Be gone!"
"You hypocrites,rightlydid Isaiahprophesyof you:
"Soyou, too,outwardlyappearrighteousto men,but inwardlyyou are fullof hypocrisyand lawlessness.
and will cut him in piecesand assignhim a placewith the hypocrites;in that placetherewill be weepingand gnashingof teeth.
"You hypocrite,firsttakethe logout of your own eye,and thenyou will see clearlyto takethe speckout of your brother'seye.
"Shall we payorshall we not pay?"But He, knowingtheir hypocrisy,saidto them, "Whyare you testingMe? BringMe a denariusto lookat."
"Woeto you! For you are likeconcealedtombs,and the peoplewho walkover[them] are unaware[of it]."
Underthesecircumstances,after so many thousandsof peoplehad gathered togetherthat they were steppingon one another,He begansayingto His disciplesfirst[of all, ]"Bewareof the leavenof the Pharisees,whichis hypocrisy.
"Or howcanyou sayto your brother,'Brother,letme takeout the speckthat is in your eye,'when you yourselfdo not seethe logthat is in your own eye?You hypocrite,firsttakethe logout of your own eye,and thenyou will see clearlyto takeout the speckthat is in your brother'seye.
JesussawNathanaelcomingto Him, and saidof him, "Behold,an Israeliteindeed,in whomthereis nodeceit!"
being filledwith allunrighteousness,wickedness,greed,evil;fullof envy,murder,strife,deceit,malice;[they are] gossips,
Brethren,do not be childrenin your thinking;yetin evilbe infants,but in your thinkingbe mature.
Thereforelet us celebrate the feast,not with oldleaven,norwith the leavenof maliceand wickedness,but with the unleavenedbread of sincerityand truth.
For I am afraidthat perhapswhen I comeI may findyou to be not whatI wishand may be foundby you to be not whatyou wish;that perhaps[there will be] strife,jealousy,angry tempers,disputes,slanders,gossip,arrogance,disturbances;
Let allbitternessand wrathand angerand clamorand slanderbe put awayfrom you, alongwith allmalice.
For our exhortationdoes not [come] from errororimpurityorby wayof deceit;
Women[must] likewise[be] dignified,not malicious gossips,but temperate,faithfulin all things.
Older womenlikewiseare to be reverentin their behavior,not malicious gossipsnorenslavedto muchwine,teaching what is good,
Therefore,since we haveso greata cloudof witnessessurroundingus, let us alsolay asideeveryencumbranceand the sinwhich so easily entanglesus, and let us runwith endurancethe racethat is set beforeus,
Therefore,putting asideallfilthinessand [all] that remainsof wickedness,in humilityreceivethe wordimplanted,which is ableto saveyour souls.
But ifyou havebitterjealousyand selfish ambitionin your heart,do not be arrogantand [so] lieagainstthe truth.
Do not speakagainstone another,brethren.He who speaks againsta brotherorjudgeshis brother,speaks againstthe lawand judgesthe law;but ifyou judgethe law,you are not a doerof the lawbut a judge[of it].
Ordo you thinkthat the Scripturespeaksto no purpose:"He jealouslydesiresthe SpiritwhichHe has made to dwellin us"?
Do not complain,brethren,againstone another,sothat you yourselves may not be judged;behold,the Judgeis standingrightat the door.
[Act] as free men,and do not useyour freedomas a coveringfor evil,but [use it] as bondslavesof God.
WHOCOMMITTEDNOSIN,NORWAS ANY DECEITFOUNDIN HIS MOUTH;
For, "THE ONEWHO DESIRESLIFE,TO LOVEAND SEEGOODDAYS,MUST KEEPHIS TONGUEFROM EVILAND HIS LIPSFROM SPEAKINGDECEIT.
soas to livethe restof the timein the fleshno longerfor the lustsof men,but for the willof God.
In [all] this,they are surprisedthat you do not runwith [them] into the sameexcessesof dissipation,and they malign[you];
And noliewas foundin their mouth;they are blameless.
