So he departedfrom thereand foundElishathe sonof Shaphat,while he was plowingwith twelvepairs[of oxen] beforehim, and he with the twelfth.And Elijahpassedoverto him and threwhis mantleon him.
When Elijahheard[it], he wrappedhis facein his mantleand wentout and stoodin the entranceof the cave.And behold,a voice[came] to him and said,"Whatare you doing here,Elijah?"
and Jehuthe sonof Nimshiyou shall anointkingoverIsrael;and Elishathe sonof Shaphatof Abel-meholahyou shall anointas prophetin your place.
Elijahtookhis mantleand foldedit togetherand struckthe waters,and they were dividedhereand there,so that the twoof them crossedoveron dryground.
Now Moseswas pasturingthe flockof Jethrohis father-in-law,the priestof Midian;and he ledthe flockto the westsideof the wildernessand cameto Horeb,the mountainof God.
Then Amosrepliedto Amaziah,"I am not a prophet,noram I the sonof a prophet;for I am a herdsmanand a growerof sycamorefigs.
"But the LORDtookme from followingthe flockand the LORDsaidto me, 'Goprophesyto My peopleIsrael.'
but he will say,I am not a prophet;I am a tillerof the ground,for a mansoldme as a slave in my youth.'
They were stoned,they were sawn in two,they were tempted,they were put to deathwith the sword;they went aboutin sheepskins,in goatskins,being destitute,afflicted,ill-treated
Then the angelof the LORDcameand satunderthe oakthat was in Ophrah,whichbelonged to Joashthe Abiezriteas his sonGideonwas beatingout wheatin the winepressin order to save[it] from the Midianites.
Now behold,Saulwas comingfrom the fieldbehindthe oxen,and he said,"Whatis [the matter] with the peoplethat they weep?"So they relatedto him the wordsof the menof Jabesh.
He saidto her, "Whatis his form?"And she said,"An oldmanis comingup, and he is wrappedwith a robe."And Saulknewthat it was Samuel,and he bowedwith his faceto the groundand did homage.
