"However,I will not tearawayallthe kingdom,[but] I will giveonetribeto your sonfor the sakeof My servantDavidand for the sakeof JerusalemwhichI have chosen."
Then the LORDraisedup an adversaryto Solomon,Hadadthe Edomite;he was of the royallinein Edom.
(but he will haveonetribe,for the sakeof My servantDavidand for the sakeof Jerusalem,the citywhichI have chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israel),
Thus I will afflictthe descendantsof Davidfor this,but not always.'"
But as for the sonsof Israelwho livedin the citiesof Judah,Rehoboamreignedoverthem.
So Israelhas been in rebellionagainst the houseof Davidto thisday.
It cameabout when allIsraelheardthat Jeroboamhad returned,that they sentand calledhim to the assemblyand madehim kingoverallIsrael.Nonebut the tribeof Judahfollowedthe houseof David.
that Your eyesmay be opentowardthishousenightand day,towardthe placeof whichYou have said,'My nameshall be there,'to listento the prayerwhichYour servantshall praytowardthisplace.
But the LORDwas graciousto them and hadcompassionon them and turnedto them becauseof His covenantwith Abraham,Isaac,and Jacob,and wouldnot destroythem or castthem from His presenceuntilnow.
So the LORDwas veryangrywith Israeland removedthem from His sight;nonewas leftexceptthe tribeof Judah.
For I will defendthiscityto saveit for My own sakeand for My servantDavid'ssake.'"
He builtaltarsin the houseof the LORD,of whichthe LORDhad said,"In JerusalemI will putMy name."
The LORDsaid,"I will removeJudahalsofrom My sight,as I have removedIsrael.And I will castoffJerusalem,thiscitywhichI have chosen,and the templeof whichI said,'My nameshall be there.'"
However, the LORDwas not willingto destroyJudah,for the sakeof DavidHis servant,sinceHe had promisedhim to givea lampto him through his sonsalways.
Yet the LORDwas not willingto destroythe houseof Davidbecauseof the covenantwhichHe had madewith David,and sinceHe had promisedto givea lampto him and his sonsforever.
Remember,O LORD,on David'sbehalf, Allhis affliction;
"ThereI will cause the hornof Davidto springforth;I have prepareda lampfor Mine anointed.
Whereare Your formerlovingkindnesses,O Lord,Which You sworeto Davidin Your faithfulness?
"Howthen will one answerthe messengersof the nation?That the LORDhas foundedZion,And the afflictedof His peoplewill seekrefugein it."
For Zion'ssakeI will not keepsilent,And for Jerusalem'ssakeI will not keepquiet,Untilher righteousnessgoesforthlike brightness,And her salvationlike a torchthat is burning.
And giveHim norestuntilHe establishesAnd makesJerusalema praisein the earth.
Therewill be noendto the increaseof [His] governmentor of peace,On the throneof Davidand overhis kingdom,To establishit and to upholdit with justiceand righteousnessFrom thenon and forevermore.The zealof the LORDof hostswill accomplishthis.
then it shall comeabout that the placein whichthe LORDyour Godwill choosefor His nameto dwell,thereyou shall bringallthat I commandyou: your burntofferingsand your sacrifices,your tithesand the contributionof your hand,and allyour choicevotiveofferingswhichyou will vowto the LORD.
"But you shall seek[the LORD] at the placewhichthe LORDyour Godwill choosefrom allyour tribes,to establishHis nametherefor His dwelling,and thereyou shall come.
"It is not for your righteousnessor for the uprightnessof your heartthat you are goingto possesstheir land,but [it is] becauseof the wickednessof thesenations[that] the LORDyour Godis drivingthem out beforeyou, in orderto confirmthe oathwhichthe LORDsworeto your fathers,to Abraham,Isaacand Jacob.
