"Goat onceto KingDavidand sayto him, 'Have you not, my lord,O king,swornto your maidservant,saying,"SurelySolomonyour sonshall be kingafterme, and he shall siton my throne"? Whythen has Adonijahbecomeking?'
She saidto him, "My lord,you sworeto your maidservantby the LORDyour God,[saying], 'Surelyyour sonSolomonshall be kingafterme and he shall siton my throne.'
"Let Zadokthe priestand Nathanthe prophetanointhim thereas kingoverIsrael,and blowthe trumpetand say,[Long] liveKingSolomon!'
Benaiahthe sonof Jehoiadaansweredthe kingand said,"Amen!Thusmay the LORD,the Godof my lordthe king,say.
And Solomonsaton the throneof Davidhis father,and his kingdomwas firmlyestablished.
So he said,"You knowthat the kingdomwas mine and that allIsraelexpectedme to be king;however, the kingdomhas turnedaboutand becomemy brother's,for it was his from the LORD.
Now when Davidreachedoldage,he madehis sonSolomonkingoverIsrael.
Then Solomonsaton the throneof the LORDas kinginsteadof Davidhis father;and he prospered,and allIsraelobeyedhim.
"But as for Me, I have installedMy KingUpon Zion,My holymountain."
