The Levites,their relatives,had chargeof the treasuresof the houseof Godand of the treasuresof the dedicatedgifts.
He tookaway the treasuresof the houseof the LORDand the treasuresof the king'shouse,and he tookeverything,even takingallthe shieldsof goldwhichSolomonhad made.
Then Asatookallthe silverand the goldwhich were leftin the treasuriesof the houseof the LORDand the treasuriesof the king'shouse,and deliveredthem into the handof his servants.And KingAsasentthem to Ben-hadadthe sonof Tabrimmon,the sonof Hezion,kingof Aram,who livedin Damascus,saying,
Thus allthe workthat KingSolomonperformed[in] the houseof the LORDwas finished.And Solomonbroughtin the thingsdedicatedby his fatherDavid,the silverand the goldand the utensils,[and] he putthem in the treasuriesof the houseof the LORD.
KingDavidalsodedicatedthese to the LORDwith the silverand the goldwhichhe had carriedaway from allthe nations:from Edom,Moab,the sonsof Ammon,the Philistines,and from Amalek.
Thesewere the divisionsof the gatekeepersof the sonsof Korahand of the sonsof Merari.
The sonsof Ladan,the sonsof the Gershonitesbelonging to Ladan,[namely], the Jehielites,[were] the headsof the fathers'[households], belonging to Ladanthe Gershonite.
The sonsof Jehieli,Zethamand Joelhis brother,had chargeof the treasuresof the houseof the LORD.
Shebuelthe sonof Gershom,the sonof Moses,was officeroverthe treasures.
And they did not departfrom the commandmentof the kingto the priestsand Levitesin anymanneror concerning the storehouses.
According to their abilitythey gaveto the treasuryfor the work61000golddrachmasand 5,000silverminasand 100priestlygarments.
Then I saidto them, "You are holyto the LORD,and the utensilsare holy;and the silverand the goldare a freewillofferingto the LORDGodof your fathers.
On that daymenwere also appointedoverthe chambersfor the stores,the contributions,the firstfruitsand the tithes,to gatherinto them from the fieldsof the citiesthe portionsrequired by the lawfor the priestsand Levites;for Judahrejoicedoverthe priestsand Leviteswho served.
"Bringthe wholetitheinto the storehouse,so that there may be foodin My house,and testMe nowin this,"saysthe LORDof hosts,"ifI will not openfor you the windowsof heavenand pourout for you a blessinguntilit overflows.
"They may, however, assisttheir brothersin the tentof meeting,to keepan obligation,but they [themselves] shall donowork.Thusyou shall dealwith the Levitesconcerning their obligations."
